Youth Empowerment: What the Bible Says

Even when young people feel weary and exhausted, and stumble and fall, those who trust in the Lord will be renewed with strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint. No one should look down on someone because of their youth, but rather give believers an example in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity. At any age, believers can be an inspiration to others. It can be quite remarkable to see a young Christian stand out in a world where the pressure to conform is so great.

At a time when fitting in seems to be the most important thing, it takes courage to stand out by setting an example of what a relationship with Jesus looks like. Young Christians should be encouraged to give themselves over to God in prayerful devotion so that they can be empowered by His power. Whether it's in their beliefs, words, behavior, entertainment, activities, or clothing, young Christians are under pressure to follow worldly trends. The Bible is a great resource for finding words of encouragement if you don't know the exact passage you're looking for. Christian parents, church leaders, and young people themselves should take advantage of these divine dispositions to equip and train young Christians.

Another major influence on young Christians is other young people who claim to be saved but live a worldly life. There is immense pressure on young Christians from within the church to act like the world. We know of certain young people from biblical times who were given great divine strength and wisdom to overcome their spiritual battles. The Bible is full of young and faithful believers who, despite their age, went on amazing journeys with God. Working with children and young people requires that the foundations of their faith journey be established by teaching them the word of God.

To empower its youth to defend Christ, the church must provide them with the best spiritual resources. Even when young people feel tired and exhausted, those who wait on the Lord will be renewed with strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint.
